Albert E. Ruffing, Sr., age 93, of Birchwood Dr., Pymatuning Twp., Transfer, passed away Friday afternoon,  July 1, 2016 in Select Specialty Hospital, Youngstown, OH. 

Mr. Ruffing was born in Greenville on May 25, 1923 to Joseph Andrew and Rose Amelia (Mehm) Ruffing.  He attended St. Michael School and served in the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater during WWII.  Al was employed as a Mechanical Fitter for 41 years at the former Westinghouse Electric Corp. in Sharon, PA, retiring in 1983.

He was a member of St. Michael Roman Catholic Church, Greenville, and was a life member of Reynolds VFW Post #7599.  In addition, he had been a member and Past President of AARP in Hermitage and had been a longtime member of Alcoholic Anonymous.  Al also volunteered as a Red Coat at what is now UPMC Horizon Greenville and his hobbies included hunting and fishing. 

On December 30, 1944 he married the former Garnet I. Redfoot, she passed away on February 17, 2011. 

Survivors include three daughters, Shirley Smith and her husband Robert of Floral City, FL, Patricia Moyer and her husband Richard of Las Vegas, NV, and Barbara Stevens of Brookfield, OH; twelve grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a son Daniel J. Ruffing, four sisters, Ethel Cooper, Mary Ruffing, Dorothy Meiers, and Rocelia Adams, three brothers, Joe Ruffing, Robert Ruffing, and Raymond Ruffing, two son-in-laws, Tom Kerr and Jim Stevens, and a great-grandson Austin Grey.
