I had lost track of Velva over the years. My father ( Chester Q. Eakin) was best friends with Skinny ( Harold and Cora) Leonard. I spent many afternoons as a child talking with Joyce and enjoying her company and learning . The angel in Velva gave her such abilities in the care of Joyce and making the very most of Joyce’s time on earth. My Dad had built a Doll House that was at the level of her bed and when I would visit she would want to rearrange the furniture. I have cherished those memories all of my life, and I am a better person for having known Joyce and her Mother. I will pray for the repose of Velva’s soul as she enters the gates of heaven to join the faithful departed.
