Barbara A. Currie, age 77, of Hempfield Ave., Hempfield Twp., passed away Saturday morning, May 26, 2018 in her residence.

She was born in McKeesport, PA on September 28, 1940 to James E. and Emma (Norman) Madison. Barb was a graduate of McKeesport High School. She retired in 2007 from the Jewelry Department of Wal Mart Super Center in Greenville and had previously been employed for 15 years as the Assistant Manager at the former Jamesway Department Store.

Barb was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Greenville and her hobbies included traveling and golfing. On February 24, 1957 she married William E. Gilmore, he passed away August 27, 1993, she then married James J. Currie on September 3, 2005, he survives at home.

Also surviving is a son, William J. Gilmore and his wife Renee of Muscle Shoals, AL; a son-in-law, Tim Heim of Pittsburgh, a step-daughter, Colleen Taylor and her husband Scott of Greenville; a step-son, Scott Currie and his wife Jennifer of Greenville, and a brother, Harold Madison of Almstead Falls, OH; three grandchildren, Tim Heim of Pittsburgh, Katelyn Gilmore of Alabama, and Jordan Rios of Greenville, one step-granddaughter, Brooklyn Taylor of Georgia, two great grandchildren, Denny Lynn and Jaxson both of Pittsburgh.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a daughter, Cynthia Heim, two brothers, James Madison and Gene Madison, a sister, Wilma Miller and an infant son, William Gilmore.

The family would like to thank Hospice of Sharon and the many friends, especially Elaine and Bob Beck (lifelong friends) for the love, grace, and for making Barb comfortable these last few months.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, May 31, 2018 in Perry Baptist Church, 3020 Hadley Rd., Hadley with Rev. James Sodano, officiating. Inurnment of cremains will be private in the Columbarium of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Sharon, 2320 Highland Rd., Hermitage, PA 16148.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Loutzenhiser-Jordan Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 366-368 S. Main St., Greenville.
