Barbara Peebles Wasser Lape died on Saturday, September 22, 2018 in Summerville South Carolina where she resided for the past 3 years. She was born in Greenville, PA on March 11, 1929 to Ruth Saul Peebles and Domer Peebles. She graduated from Penn High School in 1948.   After graduation she worked as a telephone operator and supervisor for Bell Telephone and later for the Bessemer and Lake Erie Railroad. She was also an Avon representative for many years.

She married Frederick Wasser in 1951 and had 4 children, Mark Wasser (1953) (Esther Yeardley Wasser), Karen Wasser Wolowski (1957) (Stanley Wolowski), Randall Wasser (1958-1980) and Brenda Wasser Romito (1961) (Jerry Romito). She was divorced in 1980 and later married Lester Lape in 1981.


Her pride and joy were her 4 grandchildren and one great granddaughter. She wanted everyone to know how much she loved them, how proud she was of them and what great joy they brought to her life.

Jessica Wolowski Warner was born on January 16, 1986. She graduated from Mt. Lebanon High School in Pittsburgh in 2004 and from Johns Hopkins University in 2008. She married Ryan Warner in 2013.  They live in Raleigh, North Carolina with their daughter, Harper Patricia Warner, age 22 months.  Nicholas Wolowski was born on February 7, 1992. He graduated from Mt. Lebanon High School in 2010 and from Dickinson College in 2014. Nick lives in Washington D.C. and is engaged to Karolina Koziol of Warsaw Poland. Anthony Romito was born on November 11, 1992.  He graduated from Bishop England High School in 2011 in Charleston, South Carolina and from the University of South Carolina in 2015. He lives in Charleston, South Carolina. Gregory Wolowski was born on June 2, 1994. He graduated from Mt. Lebanon High School in 2012 and from Guilford College in 2017.  He lives in Pittsburgh, PA and is engaged to Emily Reynolds of Pittsburgh.

Barbara loved spending time with her family, doing counted cross stitch, watching the Steelers, being with her lifelong friends and debating politics.

She is survived by 3 children (Mark, Karen and Brenda), her 4 grandchildren and one great granddaughter, her sister (Margaret Peebles Perkins of Greenville), one brother (William Peebles of Pittsburgh) and several nieces and nephews: John Mitchell, Vickie Mitchell Emmett, Guy Perkins, Kristine Peebles Schuler, John Peebles, Jim Wasser, Jay Wasser and Lorraine Wasser McBride.

She is preceded in death by her parents, a son (Randal Wasser), a brother (Richard Peebles), her twin sister (Beverley Peebles Mitchell), her first husband, (Frederick Wasser) and her second husband, (Lester Lape).
