Bertha A. Viland, age 95, of S. Lake Rd., Jamestown passed away Wednesday morning, February 23, 2022 in St. Paul's Senior Living Community.
She was born in Westford on November 17, 1926, a daughter of Herbert L. and Letha (Bennett) Hurlbert. She was a 1943 graduate of Jamestown High School and attended Meadville Commercial College Night School. On January 24, 1946 Bertha married Michael A. Henegan, he passed away December 1, 1983. She then married Joseph Viland on September 9, 1986, he passed away November 6, 1996. She was employed as a secretary at Continental Aluminum Foundry Co. Inc for many years.
She was a member of Westford United Methodist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher and a member of the United Methodist Woman's Association. She was a past worthy matron of Order of the Eastern Star # 100 Century Chapter and Associate member of Jamestown study class. Bertha was the first Jamestown Fair queen and was a member of the Republican Women Association of Crawford County.
She is survived by a daughter, Patricia J. Lederer and her husband Charles of Westford; two sons, Michael A. Henegan, Jr. and his wife Carol of Jamestown, Joseph H. Henegan and his wife Mary of Jamestown; five grandchildren, John Prosek and his wife Christy, Christy Fields and her husband Ben, Michael A. Henegan III and his fiance Daniela D'ambrosio, Amy Henegan and her fiance Marty Cecire, and Zachary Henegan, three great grandchildren, Austin Prosek, Greyson Fields, and Ellery Fields; a step-son, Joseph Viland and his wife Margaret; 12 step-grandchildren and several step great grandchildren also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, a young son Fred Michael Henegan, a brother James Hurlbert, a sister Janet McKay, three step-children Frederick Viland, Bernadette Viland, and Frances Viland.

Patty, Chuck, Mike and Joe. Losing your Mother is very Heartbreaking. Bertha was a genuine Lady who left her mark on Westford. I am in Florida or would have been there to pay my respects.
