Carl R. “Dick” Hoover, Sr., age 70, of River Rd., Delaware Twp., Greenville, passed away on Friday morning, July 8, 2016 in his residence after a courageous battle with cancer.
Mr. Hoover was born in Sharon, PA on November 5, 1945 to Carl H. and Dorothy (Swartz) Hoover. He was a 1964 graduate of Sharpsville High School. Dick was employed for 41 years by Delaware Twp., working first with road maintenance and retiring as the Twp. Supervisor.
He was a member of St. Mark’s United Church of Christ, New Hamburg. Dick loved to fish on Pymatuning Lake and was a member of the Outboard Motor Club, where he had also served on the Board of Directors the past three years. His other interests included, hunting and working, and Dick enjoyed all kinds of animals.
On July 17, 1964 he married the former Linda L. Boger, she survives at home. Also surving are two sons, Carl R. Hoover, Jr. and his wife Vera of Greenville, and Cal R. Hoover of Fredonia, a sister, Doris Johnson and her husband Al of Sharpsville, three brothers, Donald C. Hoover and his wife Linda of Transfer, LeVern “Sonny” Hoover and his wife Judy of Transfer, and Jim Rust and his wife Bonnie of Sharpsville, and a granddaughter, Allyson Hoover.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Verna Chesmar, and Ruth Houlk, and two brothers, Bud Hoover and Samuel Hoover.
