David K. Ferguson, Sr., age 70, of S. Main St., Greenville, passed away Sunday evening, October 10, 2021 after a brief illness.
He was born in Greenville on July 4, 1951 to Robert E. and L. June (Keelen) Ferguson. Dave was a 1969 graduate of Greenville High School and had been employed for forty-one years as a Rail Road Clerk with Bessemer & Lake Erie R.R. He was a member of St. Michael Roman Catholic Church, Greenville and was a 4th Degree member of Knights of Columbus Fitzmartin Council #1446. In addition, he was a social member of Greenville V.F.W. Post #3374.
Dave was a true Greenville Sports Fanatic as he served as an assistant coach and score keeper for many years with Greenville Little and Senior Leagues. Dave was a faithful supporter and follower of Greenville Trojan Athletics all of his life. In his younger years he was an avid bowler. Dave very much enjoyed following and rooting for his Cleveland Indians and Cleveland Browns.
On October 6, 1973 he married the former Cheryl A. Resinger, she survives. Also surviving is his daughter, Jennifer L. Ferguson of Greenville and her companion Chad Zacherl, a son, David K. Ferguson, Jr. and his wife Rebecca of Seneca, PA, two sisters, Laurie Painter and Jill Graham and her husband Ron and a brother, Lonnie Ferguson and his wife Jeannette, all of Greenville, and a grandson, Carter Zacherl. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Our sympathies go out to the entire Ferguson family. If you grew up in the Greenville sports scene then you knew Dave. He was a legendary supporter of not just the teams but the student athletes as well. Always supportive win or lose, Dave was one of those fans players look for at home or away. He will be missed by athletes young and old. Truly a Greenville institution. All our best to his family.
