Dolores (Dee) Bates of Greenville, Pennsylvania, passed away Saturday evening, March 18, 2017 at St Paul’s. 

She was born on May 4, 1930 in Greene Township, Mercer County, Pennsylvania, a daughter of Merle and Irene Brown Bates.

After thirty-seven and one half years of service with the Jamestown Area School District and the former Pymatuning Joint School District, Jamestown, Pennsylvania, Miss Bates retired in 1986.

Dolores was a wonderful, sweet lady, she enjoyed socializing in small groups or just one-on-one visits with friends at St. Paul’s.  She also enjoyed her alone and quiet time with her sister Lulu.  There were many things she enjoyed doing in her younger years like baking, cooking, shopping, needlework, gardening, photography, outdoor parks, listening to: Country/Christian/Oldies/Big Band music, watching romance/comedy movies and she was a very active member of her local church.  Dolores really enjoyed the holidays with her sister Lulu.

Miss Bates is survived by one sister Lulu (Lu) J. Bates, at St.Paul’s in Greenville, Pennsylvania.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sister, Kathryn (Kathy) I. (Mrs. John R.) Lawton.

Per Dee’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or services.  Inurnment will be in Park Lawn Cemetery, Jamestown.  Arrangements entrusted to Loutzenhiser-Jordan Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 366-368 S. Main Street, Greenville, Pennsylvania.

    So sorry to hear of Dee’s passing. We remember the day we met Dee & Lu in their home which is now ours.
    We were so young then & she was such a wonderful nice person making us feel so welcome & calming our nerves on our first visit.
    We hold Dee & Lu in the highest of honors as we respect them so much as we will hold our fond memories forever.
    Thanks for touching our lives in a way you will never know……..
