Edward William Ferguson, age 77, of S. Main St. Greenville, left his earthly body to go to his heavenly home on Saturday November 12, 2022.
He was born in Greenville on March 17,1945 to Bill and Jan (Hatton) Ferguson. Ed was a 1963 graduate of Greenville High School and served four years in the U.S. Army, including his last year in Vietnam. On September 22,1972 he married the former Linda M. Smargiasso. He retired from Damascus Tube Corp., where he had been employed for thirty-five years. While working full time at Damascus, Ed also cleaned the Greenville AAA on a part time basis for seventeen years.
After retirement, he worked doing the cleaning of the Stone Arch Restaurant. He loved fast red cars (mustangs), leather and the game of football, but his words “Jesus is #1” was the most important thing. Ed was a member of Christian Assembly Church, Greenville, since 1972. He fought a long, hard battle of many ailments and spent several months at St. Paul Homes. His courage, fortitude and will to live astonished us all and was an inspiration to many.
In addition to his wife of over fifty years, Linda Ferguson, Ed is survived by two brothers, Sam Ferguson and his wife Linda of Hermitage and Jim Ferguson and his wife Lucia of Greenville and two sisters, Charla Vanderslice and her husband Frank and Lucy Potase, all of Greenville. He was preceded in death by his parents.
In lieu of flowers Memorial Contributions may be made to Christian Assembly Church 111 Main St. Greenville, PA 16125 or to the Wounded Warriors Project P.O. Box 758516 Topeka, KS 66675.
