
Edward L. Heckman, age 89, of Countryside Convalescent Home, Mercer, formerly of Maple Leaf Manor and S. Mercer St., Greenville, passed away Thursday morning, April 28, 2016 in the Emergency Room of UPMC Horizon Greenville.
Mr. Heckman was born in Greenville on December 21, 1926 to Ferdinand and Myrta Elizabeth (Callen) Heckman. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was employed as a Truck Driver for 18 years with Eazor Express. Ed was a member of Zion’s Reformed United Church of Christ, Greenville, and the Greenville VFW Post #3374. For many years he enjoyed fishing and he was well loved and always had a smile on his face.
On July 18, 1953, Ed married the former Frances E. Lysle, she preceded him in death on June 11, 2002.
Survivors include three daughters, Susan McGinley and her husband Richard of Pooler, GA, Dona Kline and her husband Curt of Murrysville, PA, and Mary Lou Heckman of Rancho Cordova, CA, and three grandchildren, Jed Moyer, Brandon Kline, and Adam Hope.
In addition to his wife, he is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and five sisters.
Cremation was chosen and a private memorial service is being planned. Inurnment of cremains will be in Delaware Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Suite 301, Erie, PA 16501. Arrangements are under the direction of Loutzenhiser-Jordan Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 366-368 S. Main St., Greenville, PA.

Ed was a great guy and my friend, will miss him.
