Gail E. Eaton, age 80, of Bentley Ave., Hempfield Twp., Greenville, passed away Friday afternoon, June 30, 2017 in UPMC Horizon Greenville.
She was born on September 6, 1936 in Conneaut Lake, PA, a daughter to Joseph and Frieda (Faust) VanKorngut. She was a 1954 graduate of Conneaut Lake High School. Gail was employed for twenty years by Dr. Russell Poe and had held previous employment with the former J.C. Penny Co., Greenville Regional Hospital and the former Niagra Mfg. Co. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Greenville since 1957, where she taught Sunday School, worked in the church office, sang in the choir, and assisted with volunteer work for many church projects, including the Meals on Wheels program and visiting church shut-ins. Some of her happiest times at the church were spent as the coordinator for the Love & Care program. She also had volunteered at the Good Shepherd Center and the Greenville Area Community Theater.
In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, sewing, playing games and cards, traveling and helping others. She was preceded in death by her parents and three children: Robin, Robert and Joseph. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Charles Eaton at home; two sons; Major David Eaton and his wife Lisa of Valdosta, GA and Brian Eaton and his spouse of Boyers, PA; her sister, Shirley Talley of Tampa, FL and five grandchildren; Anthony, Zachary, Kyle, Colton and Garrett.
