George W. Stubert, 78, of East Ave., Greenville, passed away Saturday evening, September 9, 2017 at UPMC Presbyterian, Pittsburgh.
George was born in Greenville on November 21, 1938 to John and Lotta (Cook) Stubert. He was a 1957 graduate of Greenville High School. On September 10, 1959, George married Mary E. (Betty) Simeral in Greenville. They were married 58 years.
He was a member of St Michael Catholic Church in Greenville, PA.
George worked for the Borough of Greenville at the Sewage Treatment Plant for more than 35 years. After retirement, he spent 10 years volunteering at Greenville Hospital.
He loved watching football and other sports on TV, especially the Pittsburgh Steelers, and traveling with his wife. The pair enjoyed taking trips via Anderson Coach and Travel every summer, most recently a trip to Chattanooga, TN in July.
George is survived by his wife, Betty, at home; three children, John Stubert and wife Cindy of Greenville, Terry Roman and husband Ken of Marysville, OH, and Dina Landfried and husband Todd of Grafton, WI; sister Linda Barnett (Stubert); sister-in-law Marge Stubert; eight grandchildren, Captain James Stubert and wife Hannah, Dr. Adam Stubert, Emma Harding and husband John, Zack Roman, Lizzie Roman, Karah Landfried Hunter and husband Grant, Lexie Landfried, and Andrew Landfried; and two great-grandchildren, Lilly Hunter and Lacy Hunter.
He is preceeded in death by his parents, brother Ray Stubert, and brother-in-law Rev. Emory Barnett.
Memorial contribution may be made to St. Michael School Endowment Fund, 85 N. High St., Greenville, PA 16125.

My love and sympathy to you all. Dina, your family was like my own and I feel your loss deeply. I am sorry I cannot be there in person, but will be in love, spirit and support.
I am so sorry to hear of George’s passing. Angela and I had such a good time on the trip to Tennessee with you both. We want to express our deepest sympathy to you and your family.
