Gertrude A. Warren, age 85, of Bentley Ave., Greenville passed away Saturday morning, February 5, 2022 in her residence.
She was born in Greenville on October 16, 1936 a daughter of David and Gertrude R. (Cottrell) Lewis. Gert was a 1954 graduate of Penn High School where she was captain of the girls basketball team and a 1981 graduate of Sharon General Hospital where she became a registered nurse. On November 17, 1956 she married Edgar C. Warren, he passed away June 18, 2011. She was employed as a pediatric nurse at Greenville Hospital for 17 years.
Gert was a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church, Greenville, where she was an elder, taught vacation bible school, and sang in the choir since she was 16 years old. She was a member of the red hat society. She enjoyed music, art, painting, working with stained glass, gardening, attending high school reunions, and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by three sons, Mark Warren and his wife Cheryl of Lynchburg, VA, Alan Warren of Greenville, Jay Warren of Naples, FL; a daughter, Nancy Gemeinhart and her husband Lynn of O'Fallon, MO; a sister, Katherine Heinlen and her husband Fred of Ocean City, MD; seven grandchildren, Matthew Gemeinhart, Ember Warren, Erin Warren, Lewis Warren, John Warren, Eric Warren, Evan Warren; her beloved dog Button; many nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and three brothers David Lewis, Frank Lewis, and Charles Lewis.
Memorial contributions may be made to Strayhaven, Inc., 94 Donation Rd., Greenville, PA 16125. Arrangements have been entrusted to Loutzenhiser-Jordan Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 366-368 S. Main St., Greenville
