Howard W. “Bud” Kamerer, age 84, of E. Jamestown Rd., W. Salem Twp., Greenville, passed away Tuesday evening, June 28, 2022 in UPMC Greenville.

He was born in Greenville on April 24, 1938 to Howard A. and Esther M. (Eakin) Kamerer. Bud was a 1956 graduate of Penn High School and served in the U.S. Marine Corp as an M.P. In Okinawa, Japan from 1957-1960. While enlisted he was a Golden Glove Boxer. Bud had worked as a self-employed painter in the Greenville area for fifteen years and had previously been employed as a Captain of Security at Turkey Point Nuclear Power Plant in Florida City, FL. He was a member of St. Michael Roman Catholic Church, Greenville and was a 4th Degree of Knights of Columbus Fitzmartin Council #1446. Bud was a Life Member of Greenville VFW Post #3374 and had served on the Board of Directors, was a member of Greenville Family Moose Center #276 and had served as a Board Member at both the Greenville Canal Museum and the Pymatuning Outdoor Motor Club. He enjoyed fishing, deep sea fishing, gardening, sitting on his patio watching the birds and listening to polka music on Sunday mornings. While residing in Florida, Bud competed in weight lifting competitions.

On May 26, 1962 he married the former Theresa Godinich, she survives. Also surviving is a son, Mark H. Kamerer and his wife Mary of Waynesville, NC, a sister, Phyllis Haines of Greenville, five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Dolores E. Morrison and a sister, Dolores Johns.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
