Jean E. Bankston, age 96, of W. Salem Twp., Greenville, passed away Monday morning, October 24, 2016 in St. Paul's.
She was born in Volant, PA on July 21, 1920 to Harold “Mike” Sutherland and Martha (Allen) Sutherland. She was a 1939 graduate of Jamestown High School and had attended Business School in Monterey, CA.
Jean was a Homemaker most of her life and was of the Protestant Faith. She had active with the Greenville American Legion Post #140, where she had served as a Past President. Jean was an avid card and bridge player for many years and had belonged to several local card clubs.
On May 23, 1942 she married Robert P. Leyden, he passed away on November 22, 1982. She then married Frank A. Basiorka on August 17, 1985, he preceded her in death on March 30, 1995. Her third husband, James Harold Bankston whom she married on June 24, 2002, passed away on August 12, 2011.
Survivors include four grandchildren, Robert Leyden, Keri (Leyden) Bankston, Michael Leyden and Stacy Howe-Ervin, seven great-grandchildren and a daughter-in-law, Dawn Leyden.
In addition to her parents and husbands, Jean is preceded in death by her son, Patrick C. Leyden, a brother, Harold “Skip” Sutherland, and two sisters, Lucille Bales and Lillian Lewis.
