Greenville VFW Post #3374 will render military honors at the conclusion of the service.
Family will receive friends in the Gathering Space of the church immediately following the mass. The family invites all in attendance to a luncheon at the Knights of Columbus.
Inurnment will be private in St. Michael Cemetery
John P. Genovesi, age 91, of Templeton Ave., Hempfield Twp., Greenville, passed away Friday morning, January 18, 2019.
He was born in Greenville on December 7, 1927 to Pasquale and Giacomina (Bragaglia) Genovesi. John was a 1945 graduate of Penn High School, served in the U.S. Navy from 1945-1947 and received his B.S. In Physics from Edinboro State College.
He was employed as an electrician at Westinghouse Electric Corp. for thirty-five years, retiring in 1982. From 1982-2005 he was the owner/operator of John The Baptist Computer and CB Radio Sales, where during the 1980's he would actually build the whole computer from scratch.
John was an active member of St. Michael Roman Catholic Church, Greenville and had served as a Eucharistic Minister, CCD Teacher, was active with the Annual Car Raffle, and as an accomplished carpenter, he made all the Altar furniture for the church during the 1970's.
John was a 4th Degree member of Knights of Columbus FitzmartinCouncil #1446 and was a lifetime member and past president of the Greenville Italian Home Club. He was a HAM Radio Operator for many years, was an Avid Cleveland Sports Fan and his favorite past time was cooking spaghetti and sauce for friends and family.
On May 1, 1954 he married the former Geraldine Catalano, she passed away on May 22, 2018. Survivors include three sons; Samuel P. Genovesi and his wife Melissa of Greenville, John A. Genovesi and his wife Lynn and Matthew M. Genovesi and his wife Cara, all of Austin, TX, ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a son; Michael Genovesi, a brother and four sisters.
