I had Miss Christopher two different times while I was growing up. She was an amazing teacher. I was a total pain in the butt as a student. It was definitely a different time. She paddled me and hit my knuckles with a ruler, but she was one of my favorite teachers of all time. She believed in me and didn’t let me settle for mediocrity. If we had more teachers like her this world would be a better place. God Bless her and I look forward to seeing her again some day.
She was an amazing woman and a great teacher! I at 49 years old still try and do impressive cursive writing to make her proud! Condolences to her family!
When I turned 10 years old in 4th Grade at East Side Elementary School she placed a picture of a lovely birthday cake on the chalk board and said to me & the entire class that I was now a “Decade Old.” It was the first time I had even heard the word Decade. My handwriting skills on the other hand were atrocious. Being left-handed presented challenges of its own. I too was a pain in the butt, and years later I saw her outside the Greenville Post Office during a 4th of July holiday. I walked up and apologized for my attitude from years before. She smiled. All seemed forgiven. Then she said to me, “Have a Happy 4th of July. I hope it’s a real sparkler!” I will always remember her and especially that day.
She was a good friend for many years. A very kind soul.

I had Miss Christopher as a teacher when I was in 4th grade . She was so nice And even after I grew up .if I saw her out I always said Hi. My prayers are with you her family.
I saw her beautiful handwriting and was so amazed. While working as the volunteer scheduler I had the pleasure of talking to her quite often. Very beautiful person inside and out. Rip Lucille You will be missed.
I was making the switch to public school in 4th grade & my mom was a little worried about the transition. My mom called Miss Christopher for some advice & she had us come up to her house so she could talk to me about what East Side would be like & give me reassurance. She then told my mom not to worry, she’d request that I was in her class. She made that transition so easy for me & got me to love school again. She was an amazing teacher & as others have said, her handwriting was beautiful. I also remember that old Ford mustang she drove.
Miss Christopher was my 4th grade teacher at East Side Elementary. She was a wonderful teacher and became my inspiration to become an educator many years later. When I had to have heart surgery in 1980, I received weekly notes from her, full of encouragement to heal, motivation and love. Her beautiful handwriting and her good heart made these notes even more memorable. She would always ask my dad how I was, even when I wasn’t sick. I always appreciated her caring thoughts. I will always remember her as Miss Christopher, my influence to be creative.
So sorry to see Miss Christopher passed away. She taught me how to write in cursive and we stayed in touch with a note e wry Christmas.
I took care of Lucille before she went to St Paul’s, she will be missed, she was a beautiful lady and had so many beautiful memories, rest well my friend
