Margaret R. Erdesky, age 91, of Hempfield Ave., W. Salem Twp., Greenville, passed away Sunday morning, April 14, 2019 in UPMC Horizon Farrell.

She wwas born in Greenville on October 30, 1927 to Frank R. and Mary E. (Derrick)Petrick. Margaret was a 1945 graduate of St. Michael High School and received her certification in Teletyping from the Western Union School. On November 5, 1949 she married John B. “Jack” Erdesky, Sr., he passed away on May 23, 1992.

Margaret was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She and her late husband operated together the former Jack's Gulf Station on Clarksville St. from 1963-1973 and had previously worked for Western Union and First National Bank. She was a lifetime member of St. Michael Roman Catholic Church, Greenville, where she had served as a Eucharistic Minister, sang in the choir, helped with St. Michael School retreats at Camp Nazareth and volunteered for the school bazaar for many years. In 2006, she was honored by the school in appreciation for her many years of dedication. Margaret had also volunteered as a cub scout den mother in Greenville. She was an avid card player and had belonged to the same card club for over seventy years.

Survivors include, three daughters; Deborah M. Sokolak and her husband Thomas of W. Middlesex, Mary Susan Oskin and her husband Laird of Baltimore, MD and Barbara Ann Brooks and her husband Edward of Jamestown, NY, two sons; John B. “Jack” Erdesky, Jr. and his wife Ronda of Greenville and Mark S. Erdesky and his wife Joanne of Hermitage, a sister; Mary Catherine Petrick of Port Charlotte, FL, thirteen grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Michael School Endowment Fund, 85 N. High St., Greenville, PA 16125.

    To all of Margaret’s family, you have my sympathy and prayers at this time as you mourn the loss of your mother and grandmother. Knowing so many of you has been an important part of my life and priesthood, and I have fond memories of your Margaret going back to the St. Michael days. May the Lord grant her Eternal Life and Peace and console you in your mourning. May the blessings of Easter be your source of strength!
