Marguerite G. Werner, age 91, formerly of Tanner Rd., W. Salem Twp., Greenville, passed away Sunday morning, June 10, 2018 in The Ridgewood at St. Paul's. 

She was born in Erie on August 16, 1926, the only daughter of the late Herman and Tilda (Nolte) Heise.  She married James A. Werner on July 1, 1950 and he passed away on July 27, 1994.  Marguerite received her B.S. Degree from Thiel College and did her graduate work at the University of Pittsburgh.  She taught school for forty years in Ohio and Pennsylvania, including Xavier University in Cincinnati and was the co-operating teacher for the University of Pittsburgh.  She was a life member of OSEA, PSEA, NEA and PASR.  Marguerite was an active supporter of Thiel College.  As a student at Thiel she was Homecoming Queen in her Junior year and May Queen her Senior year. 

She was a member of the Thiel Women's Club and the Society of 1866; Thiel Friends of Art; served for three years as an advisor for the Ambassador Program and served six years on the Alumni Board of directors.  She was a volunteer at St. Paul's; belonged to the Greenville Junior Study Club and was a longtime member of the former Greenville Country Club.  Marguerite was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Greenville, where she belonged to the Shaffer/Judy Bible Study Group and Friends of Music.  She loved basset hounds and enjoyed bridge, golf, reading, art and music. 

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday June 21, 2018 at 2:00 PM in Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Greenville, with Rev. Dennis Blauser, Interim Pastor of the church, officiating.  There will be no calling hours.  Inurnment will be private in Shenango Valley Cemetery. 

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donors choice.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Loutzenhiser-Jordan Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 366-368 S. Main St., Greenville.
