I’m very sorry for your loss. I was Michele’s childhood friend. We lived across the road from the Baskin’s. Michele and I always played dress up in old gowns. I connected with her again when she came for blood work at UPMC Horizon Farrell Outpatient Center where I worked. We would talk about our the dress up days. She gave me a picture of us in our dresses, all dolled up with hats too. We sure thought we were beautiful which we were. You have my deepest sympathy. Take care .

My sympathies for your loss. I was in high school and in the band with Michelle. I remember her as a sweet girl. Beautiful blonde hair and lovely smile. She is certainly gone too soon.

Michelle was truly a wonderful woman. The whole Baskin family are special friends of Lynda’s family, the Callahan’s, and I had the distinct honor and pleasure of working with her at the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office. She was incredible, what a gentle soul. God bless her and all her family.

The Baskin and Callahan families vacationed together for many years at Wilson Lake in Ontario, Canada. We also spent many summer Sunday afternoons together picnicking and swimming at Lake Erie. Michele’s mother, Katie Leehan Baskin, and my mother, Ruth Amon Callahan, were childhood friends; their husbands became best friends. The six Baskin children and the five Callahan children formed a large, extended family during our childhoods. Michele was just nine months younger than me, so we spent much time together playing on that Canadian island. She was a kind, gentle soul. Michele and the Baskin family, thank you for such wonderful and long-lasting memories!

Michele was a kind and deeply caring soul. The Callahan and Baskin families have long memories together. My mother and Michele’s mother were the best of childhood friends. This began the history of the Callahan/Baskin saga of adventures! Memories of our families include practical jokes, laughter, day trips to Lake Erie, along with many years of vacationing together at Edward’s Island Inn in Port Loring, Ontario. We’d get together at our homes with pizza or sloppy joes and view vacation pics and home movies! Such laughter and good times!

Michele took on the great responsibility of babysitting and caring for my new infant daughter shortly after she graduated from college. I was greatly blessed to have had the best “second mommy” for my precious daughter, as I went back to work.

Michele’s smile was a gentle one with a twinkle in her eye! It revealed a deeply loving and caring soul! That beautiful soul lives on.

    With Love Always,
    Janet and Bernie Stefanik

I admired and loved Michele for her kindness and gentleness. She surely graced us with her beautiful presence even in the midst of tragedy and loss. I will miss her but the consolation comes in knowing that she is once again with her loved ones. I offer my deepest condolences to her son as well as her brothers and other family members.

Michele deserved to live a very long life, but alas! it just was not to be. So sorry for your terrible loss. Michele and I worked together many hours during our tenure at Ultra Jewelry in the Grove City Outlets. Many a night we laughed our way home on the snowy roads and many times we also white-knuckled it (although mostly when I was the driver) We shared a lot of thoughts and personal moments during those long evenings of no customers and falling snow. She was the gentle person everyone mentions here, but her wicked sense of humor was something to behold. Will miss her even though we were not close these past few years. One always wishes life would be a longer tenure for all of us.
