Raymond C. Myers, age 84, of Vernon St., Meadville and formerly of Jamestown, passed away Sunday afternoon, February 27, 2022 in his residence.
He was born in Greenville on January 2, 1938 to Harold and Dorothy (Kirkner) Myers. Ray was a 1956 graduate of Jamestown High School and served in the U.S. Marine Corp. from 1956-1958. He was employed as a car shop clerk for over thirty years at the Bessemer & Lake Erie Rail Road. Ray was a Life Member of Greenville VFW Post #3374, was a member of Meadville American Legion Post 111, Vernon Central VFD and Vernon Twp. Volunteer VFD. He served as a volunteer with the yearly Thurston Classic, coached Jamestown Little League and Jamestown Wrestling. Ray enjoyed traveling to Arizona each winter and off-roading during his stay. He also enjoyed watching football, baseball and western movies.
He is survived by his wife, the former Gladys E. (Melvin) Golenberke, whom he married on February 26, 2004. Also surviving is a daughter, Wendy L. Burnett and her husband Scott of Jamestown, a son, Troy D. Myers and his wife Sandy of York, PA, two step sons, Robert C. Golenberke and his wife Mechel of Conneaut Lake and Jason M. Golenberke and his wife Sabrina of Detroit, MI, a sister, Mary Lou McCann of Greenville, a brother, Donald Myers and his wife Frances “Fluff” of Greenville, eleven grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Todd Myers, a daughter-in-law, Tammy Myers, two brothers, Michael Myers and Bob “Lefty” Myers and his previous wife, Carol Myers.
