Ray trusted in Jesus Christ as his personal savior for all his life and served him accordingly. He loved spending time with his family, being outdoors, yard work and fixing up bicycles. He played with the Aires Harmonica and sang in a gospel group and most of all, he loved helping others out and was a very giving and caring man. In addition, Ray was a member of the R.O.M.E.O. men’s group at Paxtons Restaurant.
He is survived by his son, Raymond Nelson, Jr. and his wife Darla of Cleveland, TN, his daughter, Valerie Courtney and her husband Matt of Adamsville, a brother, Glenn Nelson of Greenville, two sisters, Kathy Peak of Espyville and Dorothy Marstellar of Sharpsville, three grandchildren, Robbie Hunter, Jr. and his fiancé Katie, Ranee Durst and her husband Steve and Lindsay Porter and her husband Mark, three great-grandsons, Stephen Durst, Jr., Landen Durst and Maverick Hunt. Oh my goodness the Lord took one of His most faithful servants home!! Ray was an incredible human being – when I saw him – I saw Christ at work – I lived across the street from him in Fort Myers for 15 years …..such a great man – Ray and my husband, Linda, and Shirley are sitting at the feet of Jesus catching up ….my deepest sympathy to Ray’s family – he will be missed desperately – but thoughts of him will always be in my heart ❤️
