Richard D. “Popeye” O'Brien, age 77, of Kinsman, OH passed away Tuesday evening, February 14, 2017 in his residence. 

He was born in Greenville on April 29, 1939 to Charles J. and Margaret F. (McMungille) O'Brien.  He had attended St. Michael School in Greenville and had  previously been employed with the Street and Maintenance Department of Jamestown. 

Prior to his employment in Jamestown, he had worked for 30 years as a construction worker in Washington D.C. for Local Union #201. He was of the Catholic faith and had served in the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne from 1956-1959.

His hobbies included watching old western movies and following NASCAR racing. 

Survivors include a daughter, Sherry Marrie and her husband Thomas of Kinsman, OH; a son, James Collins and his wife Tiffany of Greenville; a sister, Margaret Moyer of Greenville; 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Theresa Hrabosky and a brother, Thomas O'Brien.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Loutzenhiser-Jordan Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 366-368 S. Main St., Greenville.
