Robert J. Richter, Sr., age 86 of Carritunning Ave., S. Shenango Twp., Jamestown, passed away on Monday morning, June 27, 2016 in his residence.Â
He was born in Pittsburgh, PA on August 25, 1929 to Aloysius and Esther (Miller) Richter. He was a 1948 graduate of St. Basil’s High School in Pittsburgh and had served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Robert retired as a Vice-President from Landmark Savings Bank in Pittsburgh after 30 years of employment.Â
He was member of St. Margaret’s Roman Catholic Church in Jamestown and he truly enjoyed hunting and fishing.
On November 25, 1954 he married the former Edna Mae Baxendell, she survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Linda Unger and her husband Perry of Jamestown, Mary Aurdant and her husband David of Greenville, and Lisa Adams and her husband Jay of Jamestown; three sons, Michael Richter of Jamestown, Robert J. Richter, Jr. and his wife Cindy of Butler, and David Richter and his wife Dawn of Jamestown; a sister, Mary McGilloway of Pittsburgh; 16 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Â
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Chris Richter, a brother, Paul Richter and two sisters, Norma McKelvey and Jane Hercoe.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the The Children’s Cardiomyopathy Foundation, P.O. Box 547, Tenafly, NJ 07670.

So sorry for your loss. We always enjoyed seeing Mr. Richter out and about!! Seems he was always smiling !!
We are saddened by the news of Bob’s passing. Our deepest sympathy to all. He was such a nice man, always nice to talk to.
Our Sympathy is with you in this time of grieving. The cottage neighborhood will not be the same without Bob. He will be greatly missed.
For Dave: Our condolences to your family from ours here in Penn Hills. We know he is in a better place now, he is fishing in heaven catching big walleye with every cast. We wish you the best during these difficult times.
