Shirley A. Bates, age 81, of E. Marley Rd., Jamestown passed away Tuesday afternoon, April 18, 2017 in UPMC Jameson, New Castle.
She was born in Greenville on December 3, 1935 a daughter of Ralph and Evelyn (Pheasant) Bates. She was a 1954 graduate of Jamestown High School and retired from Packard Electric in Warren, OH, where she was employed as a laborer for many years. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, and her cats.
Shirley is survived by a son; Kevin K. Gelvin and his companion Jennifer Campbell of Conneaut Lake; a sister; Barb Boeck of Springfield, MO; two grandson; Josh M. Gelvin and his wife Lori of Greenville, Rodney K. Gelvin and his fiance Melissa of Jamestown; two great grandchildren; Aarron and Kyle Gelvin both of Greenville; and seven nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a son; Rodney K. Gelvin, a sister, Sandra White; and a brother, Ronald Bates.
As per Shirley's wishes, cremation was chosen and there will be no services. Inurnment will be in Rocky Glen Cemetery, Adamsville. Arrangements entrusted to Loutzenhiser-Randall Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 416 Liberty St., Jamestown.
