Shirley Mae Garrett, 89, passed away on July 28, 2023 in Greenville Pennsylvania. She now dwells with her Lord and personal Savior Jesus Christ. Shirley was born on October 9, 1933 in the village of Greenfield to Phillip M. and Ella Mae Bartholomew (née Thompson).
She married Charles Russell Garrett on June 14, 1957 at Unity Presbyterian Church, Greenfield. She was a 1951 graduate of Hickory High School and a 1955 graduate of Slippery Rock State College. She was a third grade teacher in the West Middlesex School District for three years and a substitute teacher in the Reynolds School District for many years during her childrens’ growing up years. During this time she was involved in Christian Endeavor, Christian Education and scouting with her children. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Greenville. During retirement she attended athletic events, band and choral concerts, and musical theater in which her grandchildren participated. She and her husband enjoyed spending time in Florida during the winter months.
She is survived by four children: Cindy Lee Blaschak and her husband, Matthew, of Greenville, PA, Cheri Lynn Difford and her husband, Brian, of Englewood, FL, Chris Russell Garrett and his wife, Pamela Garrett (née Davis), of Aurora, OH and Charlene Ann Campbell and her husband, Scott, of Winchester, TN.
Also surviving are nine grandchildren: Allyson Barr (née Blaschak), Scott Difford, Tyler Blaschak, Garrett Blaschak, Taylor Garrett, Robert Garrett, Keely Brouhard (née Campbell), Kelsy Campbell and Kyra Campbell.
She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Cassandra Lee Blaschak; three sisters: Janice Lee Erb and her husband, James, of New Wilmington, PA, Jo Lene Mitcheltree and her husband, Richard, of Columbiana, Ohio and Joyce Elaine Criddle and her husband, Ervin, of McCalla, AL; a brother-in-law, Louis Garrett and his wife Joan Garrett of West Middlesex, PA.
Memorial contributions may be made to Fredonia Presbyterian Church or Unity Presbyterian Church, Mercer.

I am so sorry for your deep loss. It’s hard to ever be prepared for this dramatic and painful change in your lives. Find comfort in knowing she is in the arms of Jesus. Keep your memories close to your hearts and she will always be with you.

I met quite a few of Chuck and Shirley’s family members at one point or another. Such a great family that had awesome parents.
Shirley always brought me a treat of some sort when she came to get her hair done. I loved our conversations and always looked
forward to her coming. She was so proud of her family. May you draw on the Lord’s comfort and wonderful memories of a fine lady.
