Stephen W. Banic, Sr., age 98, of Lincoln Ave., Greenville, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Saturday afternoon, August 7, 2021 in his residence.
He was born in Greenville on October 8, 1922 to Tofie R. and Magdalene (Celes) Banic. Steve attended St. Michael High School and served in the U.S. Army from 1943-1945 during WWII. He was employed as a material handler for twenty years at Damascus Tube Corp, retiring in 1985. Steve was a member of St. Michael Roman Catholic Church, Greenville and was a life member of Reynolds V.F.W. Post #7599. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
On April 20, 1950 he married the former Nancy J. Seyler, she survives. Also surviving is a daughter; Cecilia A. McClimans and her husband Merle of Jamestown, three sons; Stephen W. Banic, Jr. and his wife Cheryl of Greenville, Michael Banic and his wife Debbie of Jamestown and Douglas P. Banic of Oklahoma, two sisters; Angeline Augustine of Greenville and Rita Pyrdek of Conneaut Lake, six grandchildren, and 11great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers; Benjamin Banic, Thomas Banic and Robert Banic.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Michael Roman Catholic Church, 85 N. High St., Greenville, PA 16125. Arrangements have been entrusted to Loutzenhiser-Jordan Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 366-368 S. Main St., Greenville.
