Terrance "Terry" McElhinny, age 69, of North Good Hope Rd., Jamestown, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family after a courageous five year battle with cancer, Sunday, September 4, 2016 in UPMC Hamot.
He was born in Meadville on April 20, 1947 to Charles and Loretta (Schmidt) McElhinny. He was a graduate of Conneaut Lake High School. He was a self employed contractor for most of his life.
Terry was a Christian man and enjoyed attending State Line United Methodist Church with his family and was also a member of St. Margaret Roman Catholic Church, Jamestown. He devoted his life to helping others through his volunteer services as a firefighter, EMT, and scuba diver.
Terry was a member of Penn-Ohio Barber shop Chorus. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, bird watching, and singing Barber Shop music. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.
On June 29, 1968 he married the former Edna Herrick, she survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Angie McElhinny; three sons, Brad McElhinny and his daughters Samantha and Alyson, Scott McElhinny and his wife Lisa and their daughter Madison and son Peyton, Matthew McElhinny and his wife Randi and their daughters Jordan and Breanna and son Braydon; three sisters, Jane Martin of Westford, Dolores Hirschmann and her husband Joe of Meadville, Donna Pierce of New Castle; a brother Douglas McElhinny and his wife Mernee of Greenville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Margaret "Peg" Pitchford, Charlene McElhinny; a brother Charles "Pete" McElhinny.
