On October 6, 1941, he was born to parents, Kenneth K. McElhaney and Mary (Moreland) McElhaney.
On October 15, 1960, he married his high school sweetheart Patricia “Pat” Radish. They recently celebrated their 61stanniversary.

Bill graduated from Pymatuning Joint High School in 1959. He worked at Pymatuning State Park as a laborer and patrolman. Following was employment at Jamestown Paint Company (JAPCO), Jamestown. In 1965 he continued his employment for 17 ½ years at Chicago Bridge & Iron Co’, Greenville, until the plant closed in 1982.

In 1966, he and his family opened Walnut Creek Golf Club, which they built on the family farm in S. Shenango Twp.;adding a driving range adjacent to the course. They operated the business for 27 years. Over the years many customers became friends as Bill enjoyed meeting and visiting people.

After two years of “retirement” he delivered windows and siding for Andover – Kinsman Vinyl followed by nine years in the purchasing department at UPMC Horizon, Greenville.  He was a life member of Jamestown Presbyterian Church and served as elder.  He was a life member of the Jamestown Lions Club, serving as Past President and on various committees. As a Lion, he was a past member on the Board of Beacon Lodge for 10 years.  He was a member and Past President of the Park Lawn Cemetery, Jamestown.
Prior to moving to S. Shenango Twp., he was a member of the Jamestown Borough Council and served as President. He was also a member of the Jamestown Volunteer Fire Department. His hobbies included square dancing, bowling, and of course, golf. Many trips with family and friends were enjoyed traveling to Myrtle Beach and local courses.

His “final” retirement included spending time on the front porch watching golfers and visiting with family and friends. Other hobbies included jigsaw puzzles, watching old westerns and reading.
He is survived by his wife, Pat and son, James A. (Sally Hancock) McElhaney, Washington PA; and granddaughter, Mackenzie E. (Kurt) Neubauer, Albrightsville PA; grandson, Matthew J. (Lara) Bizzack, Bridgeville PA.; great grandchildren Luke and Clare Bizzack.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his son, William “Doug” McElhaney and brother, Matthew “Matt” McElhaney.

The family wish to send special thanks to the doctors and nurses at Dialysis Clinic Inc (DCI), Hermitage with special thanks to Tara who went above and beyond as a nurse and friend. Also the Jamestown Volunteer Fire Department and Life Force EMT’s who were there for us numerous times. Lastly, there are not enough words to express the outstanding care by the VNA Alliance visiting nurses and the Crawford Country Hospice nurses through our difficult times.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Jamestown Presbyterian Church, 411 Liberty St., Jamestown, PA 16134, Jamestown Lion's Club, P.O. Box 532 Jamestown, PA 16134 or the donors choice.

My heart goes out to Aunt Pat, cousin James, and family. I remember, with great fondness, Uncle Bill and my many visits to Jamestown over the years. Sitting on the front porch with Uncle Bill and Aunt Pat looking out over the golf course and rolling hills beyond is a memory I will always cherish.
I pray Uncle is now at peace.

    With great respect and love,
    Blair McElhaney

Aunt Pat, James, Sally, MacKenzie, and Matt,
We send our love to all of you. Uncle Bill was a wonderful soul who always made me and my family feel valued and welcomed. I know my Dad Matt thought the world of his “little” brother. Visiting your home was always a treat we looked forward to as we were growing up. Uncle Bill will be missed.

Bill will always hold a special place in our heart. In 2000 we buried our baby girl Kasey. Bill was soft spoken and caring. Over the years Chick had the privilege of working with Bill at Park Lawn cemetery. The last several years our boys have gotten to know Bill and Pat. Treasured memories for sure. Our thoughts and prayers for Pat and the rest of the family.
