Anna Marie Walker, age 86, of Greenville passed away Wednesday afternoon, October 11, 2023. She was born in Freeport, PA on January 25, 1937 to Edward and Katherine (Tillis) Dempster.

A 1954 graduate of Freeport High School, Anna was employed at Packard Electric in Warren, OH. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Greenville where she was active on various committees, the chancel choir and served as wedding coordinator for several years. Anna was a volunteer with the Hospital Auxiliary, the Library and the Greenville Historical Society Waugh Museum.

She took many leadership roles in support of activities in which her children were involved. If something needed to be done, she would do it and do it well. Serving in the Century Club, the Band Boosters, Choir Boosters, and spending countless hours sewing and altering costumes to outfit entire casts of plays and musicals, Anna took great satisfaction in being able to utilize her skills so that her children and their classmates could excel in their endeavors. For many years, even after her children were no longer in the school system, a football season would not go by without dozens of band uniforms being altered by her. If Anna wasn’t sewing crocheting, knitting, or wallpapering she could be found in the kitchen cooking and baking. You never left the Walker house hungry and you were always welcome to share a meal whether you were family, a friend or a new acquaintance. A holiday was not complete without 12 pies on the counter, and dozens of cookies and bread fresh out of the oven. Anna’s joy was found through making other people happy and keeping them well fed.

In February, 1955 Anna married LeRoy Walker who preceded her in death in 2019. She is survived by a sister, Betty Dittman of Silver Springs, MD; her four children, Dean A. Walker of Louisville, KY, Norman J. Walker and his wife Lynn of Louisville, KY, Keith E. Walker and his wife Ann of Scottsdale, AZ, and Leanna K. (Walker) Mayberry and her husband Mark of Greenville, PA; 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her former husband, a sister Louise Fell, a daughter-in-law Deborah Walker, a granddaughter Savannah Walker and a grandson Nathaniel Walker.

Memorial contributions may be made to Savannah Jeanne Walker Foundation, Inc., 3207 Trial Ridge Rd., Louisville, KY 40241. Arrangements have been entrusted to Loutzenhiser-Jordan Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 366-368 S. Main St., Greenville.
