Barbara Galbraith

Barbara E. Galbraith, age 84, of Adamsville Rd., S. Shenango Twp., Jamestown passed away Wednesday afternoon, November 27, 2024, in UPMC Jameson.

She was born in Circleville, WV on June 14, 1940 to Herbert and Freddie (Johnson) Kerns. Barbara attended East Fallowfield High School and was a lifelong homemaker.

She was a member of Atlantic Community Church and was a past volunteer at the Jamestown Elementary School Library. Barbara enjoyed putting together jigsaw puzzles and especially loved her cat, “Jax.”

She married Walter D. Williams on September 20, 1958; he passed away February 14, 1969. Barbara then married Max L. Galbraith on September 30, 1972; he passed away September 22, 2023.

She is survived by six daughters: Darla Yount of Meadville, Janet Willard of Greenville, Lavinia (John) Johnson of Jamestown, Tammy Erikson of Jamestown, Melissa (Richard) Sweet of Indian Lake, NY, and Tanya Galbraith of Jamestown; a brother, John L. Kerns, of Fredonia; 13 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husbands, Barbara is preceded in death by her parents; a son, Walter Williams (her “gentle giant”); a son-in-law, Michael Yount; a sister, Linda Buffham and her husband, Hugh; and three brothers: Larry Kerns, Jewel Vandervander, and Robert Kerns.

Services:

Per Barbara’s wishes, cremation was chosen, and there will be no services. Memorial Contributions to assist the family with funeral expenses may be made to Loutzenhiser-Randall Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 416 Liberty St. Jamestown, PA 16134.
