Carl Michael “Slick” McKay, age 65, of Hollywood Blvd., Hempfield Twp., passed away Tuesday, August 23, 2022 in his residence.

He was born in Greenville on February 15, 1957 to Carl D. and Lois M. (Rhodes) McKay. Mike attended Greenville High School, served as a Specialist 4 in the U. S. Army from 1974-1977 and as a Staff Sgt. in the U.S. Air Force from 1980-1991. From 1995-2001 he worked as a Security Officer for Reinhart Security.

Mike was a Life Member and member of the Honor Guard of Reynolds VFW Post #7599. He was a past member of Greenville VFW Post #3374, where he served as a Service Officer from 1997-2017, was Post Quartermaster from 1996-2001, and a member of the Honor Guard from 1996-2016. Mike also served as a VFW All State Quartermaster and a VFW National Aide-de-Camp. He was a Life Member of The Cooties of the U.S.A Pup Tent 48, where he served as Chaplain from 2001-2005. He was a member of American Legion Post #140, was a Life Member of AMVETS Post #322, was a member of Mercer County Vietnam Era Veterans Assoc. and was a Life Member of Chapter 55 Disabled Veterans. In addition, he was a member of B.P.O.E. #145.

Mike is survived by his sister, Susan DeSantis and her husband Mark of Greensburg, a step-sister, Lisa Ghost of Strasburg, VA, two step-brothers, Eric Ghost and his wife Diana of Alva, FL and Kurt Ghost and his wife Cindy of Phoenix, AZ, two nieces, Katie Nowicik and her husband Michael and their child Kayson and Nicole DeSantis and her husband Nick Marro. He was preceded in death by his father, his mother, Lois Ghost and her husband William.

Per Mike’s wishes, cremation was chosen and there will be no services. Memorial contributions may be made to Mercer County Toys for Tots - greenville-pa.toysfortots.org . Arrangements have been entrusted to Loutzenhiser-Jordan Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 366-368 S. Main St., Greenville.
