Carol Ann Hunt Peterson, 83, of Church Road, Greenville, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving children on April 12, 2024, at UPMC Horizon in Greenville, after a brief illness.
Born December 30, 1940, in Geneva, Pa, she was the daughter of William and Leona Hart Irwin.
She was a 1958 graduate of Cochranton High School. During her career, Carol worked at Custom Corner, Party Time Pizza, R.D. Werner Company, served as a home health aide, and she retired from Reynolds School District where she was a cafeteria worker and bus aide. She was an active member of Crossroads Christian Fellowship where she helped in the nursery and with funeral dinners. Carol volunteered at the Good Sheperd Center, the West Salem Fire Hall Ladies Auxiliary and helped serve meals at Warren Family Mission.
She enjoyed daily walks family picnics, bus trips, plays and concerts and the Greenville Senior Center. Carol loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She truly enjoyed helping people any way she could.
On January 24, 1958, Carol married Charles Hunt, Jr., and he preceded her in death on February 21, 1989. She later married Paul Peterson on December 27, 2003 and he preceded her in death on September 9, 2014.
Survivors include three children: Cheryl Runge and her husband, Kenneth, of Greenville; Charles Hunt and his wife, Billie, of Hermitage; and Brenda Balco and her husband, Marc, of Palm Coast, Florida; six grandchildren, Matthew Hunt and his wife, Erin, of Middlefield, Ohio, Brendan Gill and his significant other, Sarah Podolan, of Vienna, Ohio, Kyle Runge and his wife, Amanda, of Aurora, Indiana, Andrew Hunt of Warren, Ohio, Hali Farney of Fountain Inn, South Carolina and Derek Runge and his wife, Hannah, of Port Moody, British Columbia, Canada; eight great-grandchildren, Mercy, Faith and Joy Runge; Benjamin and Wyatt Hunt; Miles Gill; and Emaleigh and Aiden Farney; sister, Joyce Gagnon of Burton, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands and a brother, William Kenneth Irwin, Jr.
