Carol M. Brosius

January 30, 1944 — October 30, 2024

Greenville, PA

Born Carol Mae Palm to Free and Olive (Groover) Palm in Geneva, PA on January 30, 1944. Carol was a sweet, shy girl who thrived on helping her mother with household chores on the farm. She was a natural born homemaker. The family later moved from Osgood to Maysville, West Salem Township when Carol and her brothers, Wesley and Allen, were young. She loved to play piano and go to sock hops with her best girlfriends. She attended the newly opened Reynolds High School.

In 1962, Carol married Gerald Knapp and became a mother. Within just a few years Jerry was tragically killed in a car accident, leaving her to raise two little children, Tamela (“Tammy”) and Roger.

Fate brought Carol together with the love of her life, David Brosius in 1969. The couple married in 1972 and moved to Reynolds. Next came three children, Rhonda, Keith, and Marlin. Carol and Dave eventually built a new home on acreage of the family homestead in Maysville where they remained through the years, celebrating 52 years of marriage in August.

Carol was an exceptional cook and homemaker, known especially for her delicious cakes, pies and other sweet treats. Her children looked forward each spring to her homemade Easter candy eggs and amazing birthday cakes. When the kids had grown, Carol began a career at Thiel College in the Food Services department. Her quick smile, easy going demeanor, and playful personality made her a favorite of students and coworkers. She retired in 2008 after which she and Dave traveled and spent time with their granddaughters.

Carol slipped quietly to the next world, surrounded by family at home on October 30. She is survived by her husband, David, and her five children, Tamela Knapp of Chattanooga, TN; Roger Knapp of Greenville; Rhonda Brosius of Marysville, WA; Keith Brosius of Austin, TX; and Marlin Brosius of Greenville. Also surviving, granddaughters Olivia Knapp, of Philadelphia and Kara Brosius of Meadville.
