Carol Kay Forbes

Carol Kay Forbes, age 91, of Plum St., Greenville passed away Friday morning, October 25, 2024, in The Ridgewood at St. Paul’s Senior Living Community.

She was born on September 6, 1933 in Greenville to Myron C. and May Elizabeth (Dilley) Fasnacht. Carol was a 1951 graduate of Penn High School and earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Education from Thiel College in 1955. She retired as the Gifts Account Coordinator at Thiel College in 1993 where she had been employed for 13 years and previously had been employed as Secretary of the Shenango Valley Cemetery Association from 1953-1955 and 1966-1980.

Carol was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Greenville where she served as an elder, Sunday School teacher, Bible Study leader, and youth leader. She volunteered with and had served as a founding board member of The Good Shepherd Center, Greenville. Carol especially enjoyed attending and supporting her grandchildren at their athletic events.

Carol married Ian Scott Forbes on February 4, 1956; he preceded her in death on January 12, 2003.

She is survived by a Daughter: Mary Carol Hitchell and husband Jerry Hitchell of Fayetteville, GA; three sons: Col. Robert S. Forbes and wife Col. Mary J Forbes of DuPont, WA, Col. Andrew J. Forbes and wife Judy L. Forbes of Fayetteville, NY, John M. Forbes and wife Jennifer L. Forbes of Greenville, PA; one brother: James M. Fasnacht and wife Marge of Hudson, FL; 13 grandchildren: Sylvia M. Strauss and husband Jonathan Strauss, Eric J. Hitchell and wife Lauren Hitchell, John Forbes and wife Melina Forbes, Johanna Crisman and husband Brian Crisman, Mary Elizabeth Forbes-Valesquez and wife Maggie Forbes-Valesquez, Rachel Forbes, Emily Forbes, James M. Forbes and wife Alexandra Forbes, Tyler J. Forbes, William A. Forbes, Joshua D. Forbes and wife Holly Bachman-Forbes, Jason T. Forbes, and Jessica E. Forbes; eight great-grandchildren: Dylan and Audrey Strauss, Ryder and Ellie Hitchell, Oliver and Maeve Forbes, Nathan and Parker Forbes, and Baby Boy Crisman on the way.

In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents.

Services:

A Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, 11/2/24, in First Presbyterian Church, 323 Main St. Greenville, with Rev. David A. Dobi, Pastor of the Church, officiating. Family and Friends will be received from 5-7 PM on Friday, 11/1/24, in Loutzenhiser-Jordan Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc. 366-368 S. Main St., Greenville and again on Saturday, 11/2/24, from 10-10:45 AM in the Parlor of First Presbyterian Church. Burial with Committal Prayers will be in Shenango Valley Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 323 Main St. Greenville, PA 16125.
