Carolyn Wickerham

d. February 25, 2022

Carolyn Wickerham, 92, of Bemus Point, New York died February 25, 2022. Born in Pittsburgh, PA, Carolyn was the daughter of Edgar and Anna Stoffel Hagel. She attended South Hills High School and graduated from Thiel College in 1952 where she remained a faithful alumnus. It was there that she met her husband of 53 years, Gerald “Wick” Wickerham. Together they raised a family, first in Bethel Park, Pa. and then in Greenville, PA where they resided for 32 years. While in Greenville, Carolyn served as the Director of Volunteers at St. Paul Homes, and was actively involved at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. Carolyn and Wick
relocated to Bemus Point to be closer to family in 2002. While in Bemus, Carolyn was a member of St. Timothy Lutheran church where she was a past council member and an active volunteer on a variety of committees. She participated in two mission trips to Honduras, teaching cooking, sewing and child care skills to young women.

Carolyn and Wick traveled extensively, including camping trips across country and spending time at the beach. She loved to entertain and always welcomed friends into our home. She gave us love and appreciation of special family traditions.

The ability to make and keep friends was Carolyn’s gift. She had special lifelong relationships with many, including her college roommates Dottie and Janie, who celebrated their 90th birthdays together. She cherished her special friends from St. Tims and looked forward to their lunch dates. Her sense of humor and quick wit was loved by all and her smile and laughter will remain forever in our hearts.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband Wick in 2005, her beloved brother Robert “Bob” Hagel in 2019 and infant brother Little Edgar. She is survived by her four children; Tom (Phyllis) Wickerham of Rush, NY, Beth Wickerham of Jamestown, Mark (Laurie) Wickerham of Greenhurst, and Amy (David) Montgomery of Bemus Point. “Gram Wick” is also survived by five grandchildren; Ben (Jackie) Wickerham, Stacie (Matthew) Cummings, Jared Wickerham, Tyler Wickerham and Scott Burgeson along with three great grandchildren, Margot Wickerham, Bennett Cummings, and Oscar Burgeson.

A Memorial Service is being planned for this spring at St. Timothy Lutheran Church in Bemus Point, NY. Interment will take place in the columbarium of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Greenville, PA.
