Charles W. “Chuck” Cornthwait, age 78, of Hayfield Rd., Hempfield Twp., Greenville, passed away Sunday afternoon May 19, 2024 after an extended illness. He was born in Greenville on September 21, 1945 to William E. and Helen (Dawes) Cornthwait.

Chuck was a 1964 graduate of Reynolds High School and received certification as an electrician from the New Castle School of Trades. From 1976-1990 he was the owner/operator of Dawes Wood Products, he was then employed as a welder at the former Damascus Tube Corp. for thirteen years and retired as a foreman from Oyster Bay Construction, Kitty Hawk, NC. Chuck was an active member of Hillside Presbyterian Church, where he had served as a Trustee. He enjoyed hunting and traveling, could fix anything that was broken and most of all, he loved spending time with his family.

On January 24, 1970, he married the former Carol D. Wolford, she survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Katie E. Guitar and her husband Jason of Tecumseh, MI and Chrissy Reimold and her husband Mark of Greenville; three grandchildren, Logan, Luke and Leo and a sister and brother-in-law, Elaine and Joe Aversa of Greenville. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Donna Selnekovic and her husband Andy and a brother-in-law, Jim Wolford.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hillside Presbyterian Church, 2 N. High St., Greenville, PA 16125.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Loutzenhiser-Jordan Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 366-368 S. Main St., Greenville.
