Charles R. “Butch” Hawks, Jr., age 67, of Methodist Rd., Hempfield Twp., Greenville, passed away Thursday morning, February 6, 2025, in his residence.
He was born in Greenville on September 7, 1957 to Charles R. Hawks, Sr. and Blanche M. (McElhinny) Hawks. Butch was a 1975 graduate of Greenville High School and had retired from Nelson Tree Service. He also had previously been employed by Asplundh Tree.
Butch was a member of St. Michael Roman Catholic Church, Greenville. He enjoyed working on and riding mini-bikes, Cub Cadet tractors, and snowmobiles. Butch also enjoyed watching football and hanging out with his buddies and especially loved spending time with his grandson, Jayden. When he was an infant, Butch’s photo was chosen to be placed on Gerber Baby Food jars in the Pittsburgh area.
He is survived by his daughter, Kimberly L. Moore, of Transfer; his mother, Blanche Hawks, of Greenville; four sisters: Deborah Knapp of Greenville, Theresa Hawks of Solana Beach, CA, Michelle (Bill) Carter of Hermitage, and Lisa (David) Kollar of Youngstown, OH; a brother, Daniel M. Hawks, Sr., of Greenville; his grandson Jayden; and many nieces and nephews.
Butch was preceded in death by his father.
Services:
Private Funeral Services will be held in Loutzenhiser-Jordan Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 366-368 S. Main St. Greenville, with Fr. Brandon Kleckner, Pastor of St. Michael Roman Catholic Church, officiating. Burial will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Michael Roman Catholic Church, 85 N. High St. Greenville.
