Charles E. Thomas, Jr., age 71, of St. John's Rd., Delaware Twp., Fredonia, passed away Tuesday morning, May 11, 2021 in St. Paul's Senior Living Community.
He was born in Grove City on June 22, 1949 to Charles E. Thomas, Sr. and Mary J. (Barwell) Thomas. He was a 1967 graduate of Reynolds High School and served two tours in Vietnam as a member of the U.S. Army 229 th Cannon Field Artillery. Chuck maintained his attachment with the U.S. Army National Guard for sixteen years and taught at the N.C.O. Academy in Fort Indiantown Gap. In addition, he had been employed as a welder at GATX and as a 911 dispatcher for Mercer County.
He was a true Christian and had a strong belief in God. Chuck was HAM Radio Operator for many years and he also enjoyed hunting, fishing and the outdoors.
On December 21, 1974 he married the former Carol Reagle, she survives at home. Also surviving are two sons; Matthew Reed of Texas and Kevin Thomas of Fredonia, a daughter; Heather Friedman and her husband Elliott of Normal, IL, a sister; Sharon Weaver and her husband Richard of Jackson Center and four grandchildren; Justin Reed, Lilly Thomas, Shelby Thomas and Max Metz. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister; Kathy Millero.
