Clair D. Willaman, age 98, formerly of Delaware Twp., Transfer, passed away Tuesday morning, August 15, 2023 in St. Paul’s Senior Living Community. He was born in Greenville on April 10, 1925 to Irvin J. and Mary E. (Hecker) Willaman.

Clair was a 1943 graduate of Penn High School and served in the U.S. Army from 1943-1945 during WWII. He was the owner/operator of Willaman’s Piano & Organ Sales, with locations in Greenville, Transfer and Hermitage for over forty years. After the sale of his businesses, he continued to tune pianos into his 80’s. In addition, he was also employed as a school bus driver for Reynolds School District during the 1980’s and 90’s. Clair was a member of Faith Presbyterian Church, Hermitage, and had been a member of the former Greencrest Baptist Church in Transfer, where he served on the music committee. He was a past member of Reynolds VFW Post #7599.

On January 20, 1962 he married the former M. Maxine Boyd, she passed away on September 15, 2011. Clair is survived by his daughter; Judy Meirs and her husband Joe of Madison, OH, a son; Richard Willaman and his wife Lisa of Austin, TX, a step-daughter; Beverly Sanders and her husband James of Transfer, five grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a step-daughter; Shirley Bake, a sister; Lucille Ross and a brother; Howard Willaman.
