David Miles Blanchard, age 79, of W. Jamestown Rd., Greenville, formerly of Titusville and Oil City, passed away Friday afternoon October 7, 2022 in Andover Village Retirement Community.
He was born in Franklin, PA on March 20, 1943 a son of Miles Benedict and Hazel May (Reed) Blanchard. Dave was raised in the family homestead in Pleasantville, PA and attended Pleasantville Schools and Clarion University. After college, Dave worked at several Pennsylvania firms, first as a chemical technician at Nuclear Materials and then as a metallurgist, the “profession of his liking”, at Braeburn Steel Company, learning the specialty steel industry. Dave's career then took him to work at Universal Cyclops/Cytemp Steel, Pittsburgh Flatroll, Universal Stainless, and Litton Electron Devices.
Dave was currently employed in the Quality Control Department at Combined Systems, Inc. in Jamestown, PA. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, softball, golf, tennis, and shooting pool with friends. His social activities include serving as President of Allegheny-Kiski Valley Jaycees, BPOE, cub scout master, Board of Directors, Titusville Chamber of Commerce, and President of Pleasantville Borough Council. David was a trooper, waging a hard-fought battle to the end, with no complaints. He was a sociable guy, with kind words and a smile and joke for all.
He is survived by a daughter, Mary Kay (Scott) Swanson; a sister, Linda (Rick) Taylor; four grandchildren, Craig, Brian, Eric, and Mia; former wives, Donna and Denise; and his good friend Patricia Donner. He was preceded in death by his parents.
As per Dave's wishes, cremation was chosen and there will be no services at this time. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Loutzenhiser-Randall Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 416 Liberty St., Jamestown.
