David C. Frew, age 51, of Sharpsville and formerly of Greenville, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, October 6, 2024 following a tumultuous battle with mental health.
He was born on April 27, 1973 in Greenville to David E. and Anna May (Kobert) Frew. David was a 1991 graduate of Greenville High School and a 1995 graduate of Grove City College where he earned a B. A. in mathematics. He subsequently earned a master’s degree in mathematics from Youngstown State University. David was employed as a mathematics and physics teacher at Jamestown High School for the past 28 years and had coached multiple sports throughout his career. He was a trusted role model, mentor, and friend to his students.
David was a member of Transformation Church, Grove City and had served his churches in various capacities over the years. He sought after God daily, continually working to be the man God called him to be. One of David’s favorite quotations was, “Blessed to be a blessing to others,” which he tried his best to live by. David was a devoted husband and father and loved spending time with his family.
He married the former JoAnna “JJ” Hoffman on July 28, 2009; she survives.
David is preceded in death by his parents.
In addition to his wife, David is survived by his children, Kaleb Frew of Greenville and Bridger Frew, Veyda Frew, and Summit Frew all at home.

A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, 10/15/24, in First Presbyterian Church, 323 Main St., Greenville with Rev. David Dobi, pastor of the church and Pastor Scott Lewis of Transformation Church, Grove City officiating. Family and friends will be received in the Parlor of First Presbyterian Church, Greenville from 4-7 PM on Monday, 10/14/24. Inurnment will be in Shenango Valley Cemetery, Greenville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Jamestown High School c/o Northern Mercer County Community Foundation, 7 W. State St., Suite 301 Sharon, PA 16146.
