Rev. David A. Dobi, age 76, of East Ave., Greenville passed away Monday afternoon, December 16, 2024.
Born in Ellwood City, PA, April 15, 1948, a first of three sons to Louis and Louise (Gaul) Dobi, he was a 1966 graduate of Ellwood City (Lincoln) High School. September 4, 1971, he married his bride of 53 years – Bonnie Lynn (Haine) – at Calvin Presbyterian Church, Ellwood City. Bonnie survives at home.
A Presbyterian pastor, trained at Westminster College (New Wilmington), Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary (S. Hamilton, MA), and Pittsburgh (PA) Theological Seminary, he served a total of 53 years congregations at West Newbury, MA, Portersville, PA, Burgettstown/Slovan, PA, and the last twenty-six years at Greenville, PA.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by son Joshua A. Dobi, his wife Kerri, their daughters Emily and Caroline (Cornelius, NC), son John A Dobi, his wife Becky, their son Ayden (Greenville), daughter Jillian E. Sutphin, her husband Lieutenant Commander J. Grant Sutphin, USN, their daughters Ella and Harper, and sons Andrew and John (Jacksonville, FL), brother Timothy J. Dobi, his wife Lynn (Erie, PA), and brother John M. Dobi, and his wife Michelle (Ellwood City).
Services:
A Service of Witness to the Resurrection of Jesus Christ is planned for Saturday, 1/18/25, beginning at 11 AM, at First Presbyterian Church ECO, 323 Main St. Greenville with Rev. J. Grant Sutphin, U. S. Navy Chaplain and son-in-law of Rev. Dobi, presiding. Family and friends will be received from 4-7 PM on Friday, 1/17/25, in the parlor of First Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Shenango Valley Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Memorial Fund of First Presbyterian Church, 323 Main St. Greenville, PA 16125.
