David E. Frew

David E. Frew, age 92, of Greenville passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, October 6, 2024.

He was born on January 1, 1932 in Ellwood City to D. Edgar and Alyce (Haun) Frew. David was a 1949 graduate of Penn High School and a 1953 graduate of Thiel College where he earned a B. A. in history. He was employed by the Bessemer and Lake Erie Railroad as a field engineer for 30 years, retiring in 1985.

David was an active member of First Presbyterian Church, Greenville since 1944 and had served as an elder, deacon, and trustee. He also had been active with the Bessemer Credit Union and served on the Greenville Borough Zoning Board of Appeals.

He married the former Anna May Kobert on August 24, 1957. She preceded him in death on July 1, 2024.

David is survived by a daughter-in-law, JoAnna “JJ” Frew of Sharpsville, and four grandchildren: Kaleb Frew, Bridger Frew, Veyda Frew, and Summit Frew.

In addition to his wife, David is preceded in death by his parents; a son, David C. Frew; and two brothers, Bill Frew and Bob Frew.

Services:

A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, 10/15/24, in First Presbyterian Church, 323 Main St., Greenville with Rev. David Dobi, pastor of the church, and Pastor Scott Lewis of Transformation Church, Grove City, officiating. Family and friends will be received in the Parlor of First Presbyterian Church, Greenville from 4-7 PM on Monday, 10/14/24. Inurnment will be in Shenango Valley Cemetery, Greenville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Jamestown High School c/o Northern Mercer County Community Foundation, 7 W. State St., Suite 301 Sharon, PA 16146.
