Doris J. Leary, age 95, of Jamestown, passed away Saturday morning, March 15, 2025, in The Ridgewood at St. Paul’s Senior Living Community.
She was born March 26, 1929 in Mercer County to Walter & M. Ethel (McCutcheon) Brown. She married John C. Leary on March 28, 1947. He passed away on December 21, 2010.
Doris was a graduate of Jamestown High School and a member of Jamestown Presbyterian Church for 75 years, where she was a past Session Member, Choir Member, and Moderator for Presbyterian Women for many years.
She retired from the office of Jamestown Paint and Varnish Co. after 42 years of service.
Doris was a Past Worthy Matron, Secretary, and Treasurer of Century Chapter No. 100, Order of Eastern Star, Past President and Woman of the Year Award recipient in 1963 and 1978 of the American Business Women’s Association, Greenville. She was a member of the Jamestown VFW Auxiliary, a former Cub Scout Den Mother, and volunteered in the Hospitality Shop at Greenville Hospital and at St. Paul’s for many years.
She is survived by a son, David E. Leary & wife Judy of Jamestown; two granddaughters, Dr. Erin E. Pararas & husband George of Marblehead, MA, and Milade Saieh Ault & husband Dean of Naples, FL; a grandson, U.S. Navy Captain Ryan Leary & wife Sara of San Diego, CA; five great-grandchildren, Silas & Judson Leary, Aeton Pararas, and Isabelle & Noah Ault; and a brother, M. James Brown of Jamestown.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband John; her parents; two brothers, Charles William and Robert Lynn Brown; and two sisters, Mary Hatton and Carolyn Linhart.
Services:
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, 5/24/25, in Jamestown Presbyterian Church with Pastor Garry Bates and Pastor Tim Mayo co-officiating. Family and friends will be received in the church on Saturday, 5/24/25, from 10:00 AM until time of service. Burial will be in Park Lawn Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to Jamestown Presbyterian Church, 411 Liberty St. Jamestown, PA 16134.
