Dorothy M. “Dot” Dyll, age 85, of Greenville passed away Monday, January 8, 2024 in her residence. She was born in Mercer County on November 25, 1938 a daughter of Howard and Carrie (Swartz) Shook.

She was a 1956 graduate of Fredonia High School and on November 25, 1977 Dot married Edward C. Dyll, he preceded her in death. In her childhood years she attended Unity and also a former member of Fredonia Presbyterian Church, also attended many churches in the area. She was employed at Reynold’s Drug Store for over 20 years and Hermitage Veterinarian for over 10 years.

Dot was a kind and caring person who had special friends Jeannie and Vivian who she valued their friendship and often saw to their needs. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Dot cherished time spent with all of her family. She enjoyed going to yard sales, concerts, traveling, and baking many cookies for the holidays and weddings. Thank you to her wonderful neighbors Connie, Gary and Diane, Nelson and Fran, who checked on her and helped her over the years. Also, Vivian’s family Sally, Daryl, Debbie, and Larry and their families.

She is survived by two sons, Randy Gilson of Greenville, Russell Gilson of Lebanon, PA; two step-sons, Scott Dyll and his wife Kathy of Grove City, Bradley Dyll and his wife Myrnell of Hermitage; two sisters, Barbara Owen and her husband Bud of Jamestown, Dolores Koscinski of Adams, MA; a brother, Terry Shook and his wife Debbie of Westford; 10 grandchildren, Brooke, Brandon, Nikki (Rocky), Lindsey, Natalie, Adam, Mary Lacey (Shane), Evan (Alexandera), Jake, and James and 10 great grandchildren, Olivia, Jackson, Cooper, Travis, Emily, William, Griffin, Andrew, Avery, Roman and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Rhonda Summerson, son Ronald Gilson, her first husband Alfred Gilson, daughter-in-law Linda Gilson, sister Janet Smargiasso.
