Dorothy J. “Jacque” Strausser, age 86, of Orangeville Rd., West Salem Township, Greenville, passed away Sunday, August 11, 2024.
She was born on May 24,1938 in Greenville to Thomas C. Herron and Pearl L. (Snyder) Herron. She was a homemaker and had previously been employed at the Reynolds Twin Kiss for 12 years.
Jacque volunteered at Greenville Regional Hospital for many years and enjoyed traveling, birdwatching, and supporting her grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s school activities. She was an active member of the Salvation Army Worship and Service Center, Greenville.
She married John A. “Jack” Strausser on November 19, 1953. He preceded her in death on October 25, 2010.
Jacque is survived by her sons John A. Strausser, Jr. of Greenville and Larry M. (Melissa) Strausser of Greenville; Paula (Ralph) Shingledecker of Hermitage, and Betty (Dorcy) Zuschlag of Greenville; brothers Thomas (Betsy) Herron of Berwick, PA and Paul (Karen) Herron of Astor, FL; six grandsons; and seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Jacque was preceded in death by her father Thomas C. Herron and stepmother Shirley J. Herron, her mother Pearl L. Stillings and stepfather Hollis L. Stillings, a sister, Anna Thompson, and a brother, David Herron.
Services:
There will be no public services. Burial will be in Shenango Valley Cemetery.
