Douglas E. Cox, age 66, of Jamestown, PA passed away Saturday morning, May 1, 2021 in UPMC Passavant-McCandless, Pittsburgh.
He was born in Cleveland, OH on August 14, 1954 a son of Clarence H. “Pete” and Beatrice (Knott) Cox. He was a graduate of Collinwood High School in Cleveland and served his country in the United States Army from 1972-1974. He was employed as a well driller at Moody & Associates Inc. in Meadville for 25 years, retiring in 2017. He was a member of the Jamestown Fireman's Club, Pumphouse #45, Hartstown, and the Welcome Inn, Westford.
Doug enjoyed watching NASCAR, playing corn hole, and truly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by two sons, Douglas Cox and his wife Raeven of California and Thomas Cox and his wife Kaylie of Greenville; his companion of 20 years, Melinda “Lindy” McGill of Jamestown; a step son, Adam McGill of Jamestown; mother-in-law, Betty McClearn of Jamestown; a brother, Thomas Cox and his wife Linda of Euclid, OH; six grandchildren, Alexis Cox, Carson Cox, Penelope Cox, Gavin Cox, Alice Cox, and Ashlynn Cox.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a step son Kevin McGill.
A private memorial service will be held on Friday, May 7, 2021 in Westford United Methodist Church, with Rev. Harry Nelson, officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the family C/O Loutzenhiser-Randall Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 416 Liberty St., Jamestown, PA 16134.
