Earl W. “Bill” Hunter, Jr., age 79, of Arlington Dr., Pymatuning Twp., Greenville, passed away Wednesday evening, July 19, 2023 in the Lakes at Jefferson.
He was born in Sharon, PA on January 26, 1944 to Earl W. Hunter, Sr. and Pearl G. (Means) Hunter. Bill was a 1963 graduate of Reynolds High School and served as a medic in the U.S. Navy, U.S. Marine Corp. and also served two years in the U.S. Air Force Reserves. He was employed from 1967-1992 at the former Sharon Steel Corp. and retired from Winner Steel in 2012.
Bill was a member of First Baptist Church, Greenville and was a former member of Greencrest Baptist Church, Transfer, where he served as a Sunday School Teacher and Deacon. In addition, he was a Cub Scout Webelo Leader and he was an avid fisherman. He is survived by his sister; Shirley Decker of Sheakleyville and four grandchildren; Matty Hunter, Jessica Hunter, Alyssa Hunter and Alexia Hunter. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and three sisters.
A Private Memorial Service will be held in Loutzenhiser-Jordan Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 366-368 S. Main St., Greenville. Greenville VFW Post #3374 Honor Guard will render military honors at the end of the service. Inurnment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Hermitage.
