Edna Mae Allender, age 97, of N. Penn Ave., Greenville, passed away Thursday morning, April 3, 2025, in UPMC Jameson.
She was born in Pittsburgh on April 24, 1927 to Paul and Marie (Matheis) Fusek and was a 1945 graduate of Shaler High School. Edna had been employed as an office staff member and accounting clerk at the H. J. Heinz Co. for 24 years and later worked the front desk at the Hotel Conneaut for several years.
She was an active member of the Westford Flower Club and a regular volunteer at The Good Shepherd Center. Edna was an avid Bingo player at the Greenville and Shenango Valley Senior Centers and enjoyed listening to country music. In her final hours, Edna said that she was wearing her expensive red satin slippers and following the yellow brick road home.
On August 23, 1952, she married Harry “Buck” Allender; he passed away August 9, 2004.
Edna is survived by many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Jean Olsson and Doris Leya; and her special companion, Alex Storozuk.
Services:
Per Edna’s wishes, Cremation was chosen, and no services will be held. Inurnment will be in Park Lawn Cemetery.
